Minutes, neighbourhood papers, and public memory—not a creative-writing MFA substitute.
Online or on campus

The Twin Cities produce more paper and tape than a marketing skyline. This MA treats minutes, oral-history ethics, and neighbourhood print as the syllabus. You will learn to find, cite, and argue from records, and to write for civic audiences without turning trauma into content. Campus students may book reading-room time; online students are not told they had the same tactile access if they did not. Dual-pathway parity is in assessment of argument and documentation, not in a fake shared field trip. English-medium study; waiver for prior English-medium degrees including U.S. regionally accredited bachelor's. Primary mode declared at application. Mltio’s HLC and DEAC story stays institutional. Campus reading-room time is scheduled and finite; online students work from digitised and remotely available holdings and are assessed on argument and documentation, not on a fictional shared field trip. You will cite minutes, maps, and neighbourhood print without turning trauma into marketing content. Faculty will fail capstones that invent municipal or archive seals. Partnerships may refuse; refusal is ethics, not a branding failure. The Twin Cities metro and Greater Minnesota links appear as source problems, not as tourism copy. This MA is not a substitute MFA in creative writing. The award is an academic MA. It is not ACA archival certification, not a librarian licence, not an MFA in creative writing. Career copy must not imply a city archivist appointment.
Thirty-six credits: Twin Cities civic histories, archival methods and ethics, public humanities writing, and a documented capstone. Three-credit courses. Identity-checked assessment of written work.

Modules are assessed through a published mix of coursework, applied projects, and examinations. Exam windows are announced in advance so students in other time zones are not forced into overnight sittings. Alternative arrangements are available where documented.
The published duration is 18 months. Teaching language: English. Actual time-to-complete depends on mode and any recognised prior learning.
You may study this award fully online from your country, or — where published — on campus at Mltio. Online study does not require a student visa. Campus study may.
Degree tuition for this award is published as £0 / tuition-free on the online pathway. Examination or administrative fees may apply at checkout — never an annual tuition invoice. Check the Fees page for any extras.
Requirements are grouped on this page (academic, English, documents). Equivalent qualifications are considered. English may be waived after prior English-medium study.
Assessment is typically a mix of coursework, projects, and examinations. Doctoral awards include a thesis or dissertation and an oral examination. Details sit in the programme specification and module outlines.
Recognition of the award for local employment, professional licence, or ministry attestation is decided by your employer or regulator. Mltio University publishes verification pages for certificates. We do not claim automatic equivalence in every country.
